Karen Brousseau - Rising Star

Karen Brousseau is Recognized as a Credit Union Rising Star

We have a Credit Union Rising Star among us! Congrats to our Director of Operations, Karen Brousseau, who was recognized today at the 2018 Credit Union Rising Star awards ceremony held at the DCU Center in Worcester.

This program is put on by the Cooperative Credit Union Association (CCUA) and the Warren Group and it gives credit unions the opportunity to recognize the up-and-coming professionals for the next generation in the credit union industry.

Karen was nominated by Lismarie Collazo, Director of Marketing & Community Outreach at SCU. Below is an excerpt from Lismarie’s nomination:

As a vital member of our leadership team, Karen is not only responsible for day to day operations but she continues to be the ‘go-to’ person for direction, clarification and provides guidance to many tedious things that many encounter throughout the day. In addition to that, as an expert with our core system, Karen is an instrumental part of the introduction and implementation of new products and services that impact the financial lives of our members as well as help streamline various internal processes to provide the best member experience possible. In 2017 she took on many major projects; introduction of Kasasa (a rewards based checking account), Card Valet (mobile app which provides members with the control to turn on/off their debit card for added protection) and Service Star (internal training program to improve internal and external service). These are just a few of the many and often no one realized the countless hours of work it takes to bring such projects to fruition.

The part I admire most is that she shows no signs of slowing down; Karen is always working towards something and her list thus far for 2018 is proof of that. The skill set she possesses for the management of several projects simultaneously is one that is not found in every person.

Karen’s passion for her work extends beyond the walls of our credit union as she is also a part of the Synergent User Group and Technology Team. In these groups she gets to hear, share and make recommendations to better the system which impacts all credit unions who utilize Synergent as their core provider.

When not at work she spends time volunteering for a local church group which takes part in organizing a variety of community events. She without a doubt shines every day and is a worthy candidate to be recognized as a credit union Rising Star.

Karen was accompanied by her husband, Steve Brousseau and a few of her colleagues from SCU.
