On Thursday, June 28th, a team from SCU spent the day taking part in Operation Playhouse. This event is put on by Habitat for Humanity-MetroWest/Greater Worcester and it benefits local veterans and military families.
“This was our first year taking part in the event and it was such a rewarding day. Words canʼt describe what a good feeling it was to complete Operation Playhouse and see the excitement on the kidsʼ faces when the playhouse was presented to them”, said Lismarie Collazo, Director of Marketing & Community Outreach at SCU. She added, “It was an honor to be able to give back to our local vets and military families in this way after all theyʼve done and continue to do for us.”
The playhouse, built by SCU, went to the children of USMC vet, Nicholas Lambert (a recipient of the Purple Heart), and his two kids, Ava and Miles. Ava, 4-years old and a big fan of Disneyʼs Frozen, immediately asked to go inside her playhouse and also made her mom, Leah, get in there as well to start playing. Baby brother, Miles (just months old) got to go in there too and take part in the fun. On behalf of SCU, weʼd like to thank Mr. Lambert for his service and the service of all our military men and woman. We hope the playhouse brings many sweet and fun memories to your family! A special thank you as well to Habitat for Humanity for organizing this event and to Veterans Inc. in Worcester for hosting the event indoors.
